What is spiritual growth? Is it praying eloquent prayers or possessing great faith? Is it attending church or discovering your calling? Perhaps there are certain elements of these examples that can make the case for spritual growth, but the bible gives us a simpler answer!
Scripture tells us we are to “grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). I believe the whole duty of the Christian can be summed up in this one verse. Grace is the unearned, undeserved favor of God. Grace is all of God’s riches of favor, faith, forgiveness, finances, health and much, much more, made available to us through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. To grow in grace is to become increasingly dependent on God’s riches through Christ and less dependent on our own limited abilities and resources.
As we grow in grace, we experience the maximized, ABUNDANT life that Jesus came for us to have (John 10:10). This is TRUE spiritual growth! I pray that these daily seeds of grace would take root in your heart and produce fruit in your life!
